I have worked with Serena since 1996 most of that time I have been in support, but also worked in training, consulting, QA and R&D roles within the company, primarily supporting Dimensions CM and SDA as a consequence I am currently working on SDA/CM video/KB Production, certification and field readiness. What do I share in common with Vince Codd, Gavin Esthler and Fidel Castro? A love of progressive rock music. In addition to music, I enjoy cooking, reading books and cycling.

Install the DA demo application into an existing DA installation

Install the DA demo application into an existing DA installation

Dimensions CM 14.4 includes support for a new database platform PostgreSQL. This platform provides two immediate benefits:

  • Can be installed and configured as part of the CM server installation

  • The version supplied does not occur any additional licensing costs

However, DA does not currently support the PostgreSQL database platform, and it is no longer possible to install DA as part of the CM server install. It is possible however to install DA as a separate installation to use the CM Tomcat installation and utilise a supported database platform (SQL Server, Oracle or Derby). This will therefore mean DemoApplication and its associated artifacts will not be loaded into the database.

Note: this procedure can also be applied to standalone DA installations (that were not installed as part of a CM install), running on MSSQL or Oracle for which the CM demo application is required.

This document describes how it is possible to install a DA replicator dump of Demo Application into the new DA database.

See the attached document for more details:

The Demo Application export can be downloaded from here.
