    Hello Iyappan,

Sounds like you have a problem with your Serena License Manager. Make sure it is running.

If that is not sufficient to solve the problem and you urgently need help, I recommend you open a support incident by phone or via https://supportline.microfocus.com. We're here to help you.

    With kind regards,

    - Richard.

    Hi Iyappan

In the Serena License Manager installation folder there will be two files which will be of interest. The first is serena.lic, which is the license file, and the second is SerenaLicenseServer, log which will contain any error messages concerning the startup or use of the license. It's possible you may be able to resolve the issue yourself once you've checked SerenaLicenceServer.log for errors but, if not, please open an incident with Micro Focus Support using the link specified by my colleague Richard and attach the two files I mentioned.

    Hi Vince,

    Thanks for your response.

I am unable to find the license file ?? Can you please navigate the approximate directory so that i will try in our server..

In SerenaLicenseServer.log, it shows as :

    Hi Iyappan

The license file serena.lic should be in the same folder as SerenaLicenseServer, log. I would not expect it to be anywhere else. The fact that it's not there forces the license manager to look for a default location of C:\flexlm\license.dat and of course that is not found. Please check your machine for file serena.lic to see if it's been moved somewhere else.

Another option for you is to login to https://supportline.microfocus.com/ with your registered name and password, go to the licensing section and use the option to view your existing licenses. You can then have the key emailed to you and you can then paste the key into the License Manager GUI which will recreate the serena.lic file.

If you continue to have problems please open an incident with Micro Focus Support as previously mentioned where any additional problems can be investigated.

    Hi Iyappan

the message you are getting can be caused by the Serena License Manager service not being started, as mentioned in knowledgebase article http://knowledgebase.serena.com/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=S128414, or potentially you have a firewall issue that's preventing your client making a connection, see
    http://knowledgebase.serena.com/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=S136346 for details.

Please check that the service is up and running, recheck the log file for errors, read through the details in the articles mentioned above and, if there are still problems, open an incident with Support at https://supportline.microfocus.com/ so a more detailed investigation can be performed into your environment. You should make sure that you attach all relevant files to the incident i.e. serena.lic and SerenaLicenseServer.log and include full details of your environment where Dimensions CM has been installed.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

Where could we find the serial number of Dimensions CM installed ? Since this has been installed past 08 years back, We couldn't identify this?

Is there any command to trace out the serial number through command prompt?

    Hi Iyappan

Please check the contents of your license file, serena.lic. If this is a more recent license file it will contain the serial number. Check for a value in the file that looks like SN=<12 digit number>. That 12 digit number will be the serial number.
