Microsoft PowerBI allows the easy production of Data dashboards and powerful Business analysis tools, including natural language searching. Creating easy intergration methods for SBM and Power BI woul...d extend the reporting capabilities of SBM considerably     It is simple to connect Power BI to the SQL server db and create joins etc but if POWER BI could connect to reports where all filtering etc is already set up, it would create a very power business tool, useful for either information reporting or Data mining. If anyone has already managed to make this connection, please share your methods.  More

Extend the existing Calendar report functionality and the "My Calendar" view to add a Webcal Feed link which allows a Serena calendar to be integrated into Outlook, Mac Calendar, Gmail, or any other s...ystem which uses standard Web Calendars. Along with many clients of Serena, we use Calendar data extensively in a number of solutions - Time Off, Release Management, Change Management, and others. The "My Calendar" functionality allows us to being many Calendar feeds into a single view within Serena, but it does not provide any capability to view SBM calendars alongside external sources. Thus we lack any way to have a consolidated view of all event data, as Exchange calendars remain our system of record for corporate events. One solution is to allow the ability to export an Event in Serena in .ICS format, which can be imported into Outlook, Gmail, or other systems. We built a custom solution for this using AppScript which writes a file in .ICS format, and prompts the user to open it to add to their calendar. This is useful, but it only operates on an item-by-item basis, and requires manual action to add each item to your own calendar. In addition, it does not automatically update when the item dates or other information change in SBM. To more fully solve this need, we created a custom calendar feed solution using AppScript which publishes WebCal feeds (basically, just a collection of .ICS events in XML format). By adding the URL to this AppScript into Outlook or other Calendar-feed accepting systems, we can integrate a mirror version of any Serena Calendar Report within our external tool, which is automatically updated on a scheduled basis (~5mins is the default). The solution I describe using AppScript is acceptible, but has several issues: 1. Security - because we are not using Integrated Windows authentication, our external tools are not able to authenticate to run the script. To work around this, we encode a generic read-only user account's credentials into the calendar URL. This makes reports using (Current User) difficult to use. 2. Field Types - The AppScript which renders the calendar needs to read the report parameters from the TS_REPORTS table and attempt to synthesize the SQL queries which will return the desired results. This is difficult to do for certain fields or field types. 3. Access - We built a custom "menu" of available calendars for users to pick, to add to Outlook. This lives on its own AppScript page and is not obvious to users. It would be much more powerful if there were a Calendar Feed icon on each individual feed. 4. "My calendar" - our current solution interfaces with individual feeds, not at the "My Calendar" level. It would be helpful if a user could import their "My Calendar" a single time in Serena, then manage the component feeds within the system, as opposed to having to subscribe individually to all components (though, this may be preferable for other users - so both should be an option). In speaking with others at xChange we think that this is a feature that would receive a lot of positive attention, so we would like to request that it be considered for inclusion in a future version of SBM. during the notification process we are trying to determine if all notifications are being sent. but the ns.log file is limited to 5MB and we have to search multiple log files for the notification acti...on. is there a way to increase the sixe of the ns.log file so we have the results in a single file instead of searching through many? i am trying to verify a notification was sent for a notification rule (escalation) after a period of 30 days, but because we have logging leve set to debug, the file does contain that criteria, we have to search other log files such as ns.log.1 ~ ns.log.10 More

In SBM (10.1.5.2) formatting in rich text fields often gets messed up when users insert formatted text from MS Word or other applications. Our users would appreciate an additional button in Rich Text e...ditor menu bar, thateither lets users switch between rich text or just plain textor enables users to paste formatted text just as plain text. Occasionally an SBM Administrator would like to reorder the workflows. This is currently not possible. Workflows appear to be ordered by TS_ID number in the Workflows table in the database. Under cert...ain conditions, when an admin reorders projects, we may see the workflows needing reordering as well. It would be nice to have a way to do that in the Web Admin. More

In Work Center, after transitioning an item I opened from my multi-view report widget, I have to click on the X to close the window.  at that point I'm back to my multi-view report, but the item I tra...nsitioned is still there, so I have to click Refresh to remove the item I transitioned. In my daily Production Control (source control) work classic view, I frequently opened an item on my multi-view home page report, transitioned the item, and if I had noticed more than one item in the individual report, I clicked Back to results to open it.  The item I had transitioned was no longer on the individual report.  If I needed instead to return to the Home Page report, I clicked the Home icon instead of Back to results.  For either action, I had to click only once. In Work Center, after transitioning an item, I have to click on the X to close the window, and I'm back to my multi-view report, but the item I transitioned is still there, so I have to click Refresh to remove the item I transitioned.  If there's only one item, that doesn't have to happen until the next time I'm notified of a task; however, if there are multiple items, I need to perform refreshes to remove already-transitioned items so that I can keep track of what tasks I have remaining. I would like instead to be able to see the refreshed report widget with one click. More
